In many ways, Pisces can be considered as the sign of endings; it is the last sign of the zodiacal cycle; it begins the last phase of winter in the Northern Hemisphere; it is last of the mutable signs; the attributes of the previous eleven signs culminate in this 12th (last) House representative. It is in the watery depths of Pisces season where we are encouraged to take a deep dive into our individual selves to come to a better understanding of the “I Believe” we’ve taken on over the past year in preparation for the zodiacal cycle to begin again in Aries, continuing our eternal exploration of what “I AM.”
Associated with creativity, emotions, intuition, dreams, and secrets Pisces is regarded as one of the most spiritual signs in the zodiac. As a mutable sign, it governs over the transition from the winter season fraught with darkness and desolation to the oncoming rebirth of the warmth and increasing light of spring. This energy of change, of ending something and beginning the next is amplified this Piscean season as Neptune, one of the rulers of Pisces will be leaving its domain in January 2026 after nearly 15 years in its home sign. This is the last Pisces season with Neptune at home we will experience in our lifetime, and many lifetimes to come for that matter as Neptune will not dwell in Pisces again for another 165 years.
The last Neptune in Pisces transit took place in the mid 1800s during a time of great social upheaval played out over multiple years of political, social, artistic, medical, and scientific revolution across Western nations.
Neptune’s homecoming has awakened humanity’s desire for a more unified world that operates from deep compassion and empathy supported by a social explosion of mysticism and spirituality, engendering a conscious movement away from separateness and the divisions associated with the strictures of traditional religion.
With social media as the biggest vehicle of this awakening we’ve witnessed the increase of humanity’s unification due to the ease in our ability to speak to others in the global community and visually see how they live, and our easy access to information and knowledge.
Over this transit humanity has been moved towards a compassionate energy that encourages an openness to not only others and their differences, but a greater acceptance of our own personal character dynamics too. The increased acceptance of non-traditional lifestyles and spiritual practices is evidence of this, as well as the emphasis on personal commitment to mental health and the increased opportunities for neurodivergent individuals within society.
Neptune traversing Pisces amplifies our imagination and creativity, highlighting the arts and artists of all genres. In just the past year a number of celebrities who had notable career highs have major Pisces placements in their charts, including Ryan Gosling, Sza, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, Timothee Chalamet, Renee Rapp, Margaret Qualley, Joni Mitchell, Charlie XCX, Chappell Roan, and Kendrick Lamar. Social media has also amplified the creative energy Neptune in Pisces sparks, providing a platform for anyone everywhere to imagine it, dream it, create it, and share it.
The desire to reshape our health systems and ideas of what “healthy” is has caused a fantastic expansion in alternative treatments and moved naturopathic and holistic medicine into the mainstream unlike any other time since the inception of allopathy in Western cultures.
While we’ve had the rare blessing of experiencing the soul-inspiring energy of Neptune in Pisces in multiple areas of life over the past 14 years we also have been dealing with its darker energy. The shadow side of this transits tends to yield an over-idealization of others- for the collective that would be prominent figures in society as well as being prone to deception with a tendency towards confusion and illusionary beliefs, a distorted, collective personification of the Piscean “I Believe” principle. This has caused multiple instances of large swaths of society grappling with the disappointment that comes with their reality not aligning with their ideals or their perceptions; we’ve most certainly seen this playing out in the current global political paradigm and the great decline in celebrity influence.
At the individual level, Neptune’s transit through Pisces has sought to encourage each us to intentionally nurture and bring to fruition our soul’s purpose in this lifetime, which is an integral part of the cosmos’s preparation for the collective evolution that will take place in society over the next 20 years with the Pluto in Aquarius transit.
The Pisces New Moon on February 27th is the peak of this last Neptune-in-Pisces Piscean season, and with the planetary parade that will take place the following evening the cosmos is aligning to shower humanity with a profound, beautiful energy for manifesting the goodness that this transit aims to inspire within us: compassion, empathy, increased creativity, spiritualism, and both self-love and love of humanity. Don’t waste it; there’s a reason for the season, and we can benefit from using this energy to call our dreams into our reality while expressing gratitude for being alive during such dynamic times.
Happy Pisces Season, my friends.
